Das Rheingold – Vienna, State Opera
For long passages the evening should be called “Loge”, the cunning fire-god is so at the centre…Adrian Eröd’s Loge, agile as a cat playing into the lap of the gods, with dangerous amoral exuberance, this is singing and acting of the very first class – his baritone, with exemplary diction, has enough brightness for this, actually a tenor role.
FAZ
The real protagonist is the fire-god Loge, not only because of Adrian Eröd’s physical agility, more because his agile and secure high baritone gives the role a surprising vocal weight.
Neue Zürcher Zeitung
In all this only Adrian Eröd, with his long red wig, has the chance to achieve a clear profile: as a mercurial player and vane joker, simultaneously Wotan’s mascot full of hidden aggression, the baritone (!) sings the role beautifully, also the highest notes.
Die Welt
The evening was to become a triumph for Adrian Eröd. The…experiment, the cunning manipulator Loge to cast with a high baritone, is a success…thanks to enormous stage presence and in his case clear definition by the director, Adrian Eröd, already a favorite of the public, could reveal his many-facetted talent. He interprets the hated and loved demigod as an agile androgenous creature between two worlds, mimes the jovial ambassador as a multitalented cynic, carefully pulling all the threads between all the fronts. In spite of his narcissistic appearance he appears extremely sensitive. With astonishing obsequiousness he seeks Wotan’s protection.
