New Liszt-CD Released

May 30, 2010

Adrian Eröd has recorded a CD with songs by Franz Liszt, for the Munich label marsyas. The CD stands at the beginning of the first complete recording of Liszt’s art songs, which will be concluded in the autumn of 2011 and will celebrate the master’s 200th anniversary.

Five singers contributed to this project, accompanied on the piano by Charles Spencer. For the present CD, Adrian Eröd has recorded songs after poems by Heine, Schiller, Uhland, and V. Hugo in a total of five languages (German, French, Italian, English, Hungarian). The Sonnets by Petrarca — in the later version for lower voice, as well as the impressive ballad “Le Juif Errant” — after Béranger, were released for the very first time on CD. The expert critics were unanimously favourable and enthusiastical — see for instance: SA-CD.net
